The Lifetime Promise: Inside Danny & Ron’s Rescue and 15,000 Lives Saved

Step inside the incredible world of Danny & Ron’s Rescue! We are honored to feature co-founders Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta, who together have found forever homes for nearly 15,000 dogs. Their unique model allows all dogs to live in their home, a great environment for abused animals and former puppy mill dogs.

They share the humble beginnings of the rescue, which was founded out of a lifelong love for animals and fueled by their retirement money until Hurricane Katrina changed everything.

A Sanctuary for Life: The Lifetime Promise

Hear the incredible story of how their mission began, saving over 600 dogs from Katrina’s devastation. Ron details their unique “ironclad contract” for adoptions : if an owner ever needs to give up a dog for any reason—health issues, financial issues, ten years down the road—the dog must come back to them. This commitment is a lifetime promise, extending to their sanctuary program for dogs with medical or behavioral reasons that make them unadoptable.

Beyond Adoption: Global Outreach & Community Support

  • The Elderly Program: They partner with Meals on Wheels through the “Animals” program to supply food for any pet (dog, cat, parrot, ferret) of the homebound elderly, and help with vet care if needed.
  • Disaster Relief: They ensure they only take dogs that were in the shelter before a storm hit, allowing displaced owners time to find their pets.
  • Veteran & First Responder Support: They work with War Dogs in Chicago to test and place dogs with veterans and have even helped a Richland County policeman afford emergency surgery for his dog.

A Crucial Partnership: Danny & Ron’s and CVETS

Ron shares his deep appreciation for CVETS, revealing how the hospital frequently partners with the rescue. When CVETS sees specific cases of great need where the owners can’t afford care, they call Danny & Ron’s to step in and help out.
